RE: Greenville NC dump sites??

BillyP: Slightly OT but could you tell us how you were able to get a slot there? We're from Down East and it seems that for anything more than ordinary, folks get sent to Pitt. Would be nice to have your lessons learned for future ref (that I hope I'll never need). Thanks, Steve
Great question Steve - Best thing to do is pull into the Food Lion parking lot at the corner of Stantonsbug and Arlington, then call the hospital police at 252-847-8568. The police will drive over and escort you to the back (north-east) corner of the ViQuest Center parking lot.
They have four 30 amp outlets, plus a couple rows of 20 amp outlets. All the outlets are together on one pole... so if there are more than 2 RVs, extension cords would be needed. There is no water or dump available. Also, there is no charge and busses run between the parking lot and hospital.

Greenville NC dump sites??

We are camped in the parking lot at Pitt Memorial Hospital. They have electric (30 amp) for us, but no water or dump.
Anyone know of a place to dump and fill the fresh water tank, in or around Greenville (NC)?

RE: Good Sam Club members

Drive away. Post up the name of campground on here. Tell everyone that will listen about their deceptive practice.... and maybe their business will suffer enough so that they straighten out their act.

RE: Does the 2008 Jeep Liberty accumulate mileage when towed?

I had to tow my new Liberty from the Blue Ox plant in Pender NE yesterday with the battery cable connected because I need to use the 12 volt connection in the Jeep for my wireless brake sender to send the signal to my coach. I experienced no problems what-so-ever with doing this. Just to be on the safe side, I have my Jeep dealer doing research on this with Jeep technical people. I will post any new info here as soon as I receive anything.
I now have about 4,000 miles of towing on our 08 Liberty. I have never disconnected the battery... and have not had any problems.

Do you have a stick home or do you full time?
Britt
Britt - We still have the house... 1st north of Fairway restaurant on 58... but the kids have it for a couple years:)

RE: Sleep Number Bed from Campingworld.

Are you happy with it ? YES
Does it leak air ? NO
Do you feel like you are on a coleman air materess ? NO
Is the air pump quiet. YES - only runs when you change pressure
Are there any maintaince issues with it? YES - you have to lower pressure before traveling to/thru higher altitudes (to keep from over pressurizing bladders)

RE: Good Small Ice Chest

If money is not the issue... take a look at the Yeti 15 qt. But, I would go with an Igloo Ice Cube or a Coleman at 1/4 the cost. I would stay away from coolers with a pivoting lid, like the Playmate (and Swinger, I think). Also, more important than the insulation is keeping a tight fitting lid in place. If you have kids, have them come to you to get something out of the cooler... or they will be in and out and no amount of insulation will keep it cool, for long.

RE: Dometic Awning wind speed dip switch settings

I have the Care Free electric awning. I have a switch in the MH that you can select low (4mph), med (8mph), or high (12mph). These settings are too low and I wish Care Free had a system more like the Dometic.

RE: Dometic Awning Question

The plastic cord that runs through the awning material is suppose to be left on and trapped in the end caps to keep the material aligned. I would find some plastic cord and push into the slot to keep the material aligned. You could use wood dowel rod, or some other filler, but I don't recommend removing the end caps unless you know what you are doing... broke arms, fingers and wrist could result.

RE: A/C Freeze-up

A couple things can cause freezing up of the coils -
1 - poor air flow across the coils. Too many outlets closed (if a ducted unit) or only opening one end, of the discharge on a non-ducted unit. Dirty filter. Something in the duct blocking air flow. The coils are dirty and reducing air flow.
2 - the barrier that separates the return and discharge, behind the register is dislodged (allowing air to recirculate in the plenum chamber).
3 - Improperly installed or defective freeze switch - there is a small thermistor on a pair of wires that pushes into the coils. This switch detects a freeze-up and cycles the compressor.

RE: smi stay-in-play braking system

I have the the Stay-n-Play and use it in both my 04 Wrangler Rubicon and 08 Liberty. When I got the Liberty, I bought and additional vehicle installation kit and installed it in the Liberty. Now I swap the box from the Liberty to the Rubicon, depending on which I am towing.

RE: Have ? about dry camping 7 days in a class C

Everyone here is right on target, to help get you through your week of dry camping. As stated, water will be the big issue. So as not to repeat what everyone else has said, here is my shortened list -
Get a shower cut off valve to help save on water while showering. The cutoff that comes on the shower heads, if equipped, allows quite a bit of water to run while you are soaping up. The cutoff valves can be purchased at any hardware store for around $6.
http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-31048198669849_2008_22224780
These valve still allow a small dribble of water to keep it from getting cold, but are a great water saver.
As to batteries - make sure the fuel tank is full when you start your stay... the generator fuel pick-up is high in the tank and the generator will not usually run when the fuel level drop to below a quarter tank. Secondly, the battery charge rate will vary according to the load you place on the generator - if you start the generator and do not run appliances, the batteries will charge much faster than if you were trying to run an AC (or other big electric user).
Let us know how you make out on your trip.

RE: National Recall on Jayco Seneca Super C to be announced

The response you received from Jayco does not surprise me in the least. I like our 35GS and plan to keep it for a long time... but our next motorhome will not be a Jayco. I wouldn't take another product from them if they tried to give it to me.

RE: SMI silent partner

I'd start by moving the power wire for the SMI controler to a tap that was hot all the time, and not have to have the key turned to the accessory position while towing.
I have been using the Silent Partner for the past three years. In that time I have never had the battery drained. During over-night stops I turn off the Silent Partner, and turn it back on the next morning before towing.
When first installed, there were no clamps used on the hoses. After about two years the vacuum pump started running frequently. I checked the system and found small leaks at a few of the hose connections. I used wire ties, and a clamping tool, to stop the leaks and everything was back to normal.
